Amidst these crazy times, with many schools doing remote learning, and many parents diving headfirst into homeschooling, everyone is going to be looking for some “get out of the house” activities. Well, here they are! Check out these kid-friendly options that are available in and around the Denver / Boulder Area.
Adventure Golf and Raceway – At this time Adventure Golf and Raceway is open, but for miniature golf ONLY. Masks required for ages 4 and up. – Westminster, CO
Westminster Monkey Bizness – Masks required for age 10 and above. A place where kids can truly “monkey around” on the giant indoor playground. At Monkey Bizness, kids under 8 years old can go monkey around in a jungle of fun with inflatable jumps, slides and obstacle courses. They even have a special area set aside for toddlers – designed for kids 2 years and younger.
Xtreme Challenge Arena – Reservation required – open for private parties only. Enjoy 30,000 square feet of group and physical challenges you can’t find anywhere else. Each private event is custom designed to the ages and goals of the group attending. Whether it be a really fun birthday party , after prom, or extraordinary team-building event they’ve got you covered. Suitable for all ages and abilities, all of their equipment adjusts to accommodate your goals. – Thornton, CO
Butterfly Pavilion – Reservation required. Masks required for ages 3 and older. Butterfly Pavilion is the first stand-alone, Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited non-profit invertebrate zoo in the world and a leader in invertebrate knowledge, inspiration and connection. Whether it is providing unique, hands-on learning experiences in our exhibits and educational programs, conducting new research that sets the standard for zoos across the country or building innovative solutions for species and habitat conservation in countries around the world, Butterfly Pavilion is leading the way in ensuring invertebrates are protected for the future. – Westminster, CO
Fat Cats All Out Fun – Bowling and arcade. It is unclear as to whether the arcade is currently open, however in their COVID 19 safety precautions/policies, which can be found by clicking here, they do reference cleaning the arcade games regularly (once open) and offering gloves to patrons who would like them. – Westminster, CO
Boondocks – Masks are required for ALL guests. Adjusted days/hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday. To comply with capacity guidelines, they are offering a limited number of 3 hour unlimited fun passes, which include blowling, laser tag, miniature golf, go-kars, bumper boats, and ropes course. No reservation is required. Boondocks has locations in both Northglenn, CO and Parker, CO.
Gateway Park Fun Center – Mini Golf, batting cages, and go carts! – Boulder, CO.
Jumpoline Family Fun Center – Jumpoline Park is a Family Fun Center featuring innovative trampolines, and open for everyone regardless of age or gender. – Aurora, CO
Downtown Aquarium – Reservations required. Masks required for visitors 3 years and older. Downtown Aquarium was purchased by Landry’s Restaurants, Inc. in 2003, when it was Colorado’s Ocean Journey Aquarium. On July 14, 2005, Landry’s reopened the redesigned complex as Downtown Aquarium. The entertainment and dining complex features a public aquarium boasting more than a million gallons of underwater exhibits that highlight fascinating ecosystems around the world. Downtown Aquarium houses over 500 species of animals, the interactive Stingray Reef touch tank, Aquarium Restaurant, Dive Lounge, the Nautilus Ballroom and amusements for the entire family. -Denver, CO
Skate City Colorado – With locations in Arvada, Aurora, Littleton, and Westminster, you most likely have a skate city location close to you! They are following state guidelines, with reduced capacity and social distancing, but I could not find at what age patrons are required to wear a mask.
Denver Zoo – Reservations required. Masks are mandatory for all visitors 3 and over. Have a memorable day with your family exploring the more than 84 beautifully landscaped acres on the north end of Denver’s City Park. Click here for detailed information on how the Zoo is keeping visitors safe.
Anderson Farms Fall Festival 2020 – Reservations for their Fall Festifal from September 25th – October 31st open on September 14th. They will be updating their website soon regarding any changes to the fall festival, but it typically touts attractions such as the corn maze, pumpkin patch, tire mountain, and much more! – Erie, CO
Broken Shovels Farm Sancutary – Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary is a safe place for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, slaughter and exploitation. They are not a petting zoo. They do not breed or sell animals. Occasionally animals are rescued already pregnant, they and their children will live out their lives here and will never be separated, sold or used.Only open certain days of the month. Denver Botanic Gardens & Chatfield Farms – Reservations required. Denver Botanic Gardens at York Street, in cooperation with the City and County of Denver, presents a wide range of gardens and collections on 24 acres. The gardens reflect an ever-widening diversity of plants from all corners of the world. Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, managed in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is a 700-acre native plant refuge and working farm located along the banks of Deer Creek in southern Jefferson County. – Denver, CO & Littleton, CO
Miller Farms Fall Festival – Labor Day through mid-November. The Miller Farms Fall Festival gives everyone the opportunity to not only explore the farm, but to also harvest their own vegetables! During the fall harvest, everyone takes a tractor ride to our fields with stops along the way to pick their own vegetables. They’ll get the fun and educational experience of putting their hands in the dirt, and the rewarding benefit of picking fresh produce to take home to their families. Besides the hayride that takes you to the fields to harvest, there are tons of other activities for you and the kids. They have a giant “Croc-pit” (imagine thousands and thousands of chopped-up Crocs in a giant pile-o-fun), corn maze, kids play areas, antique tractors, peddle tractors, a hay pyramid, farm animals, and a unique collection of oddities and activities. – Platteville, CO
Sunflower Farms Farmfest – Reservations required. During Farmfest Public Hours, you will be able to have direct contact with your favorite farm animals: the goats, sheep, lama, cows & horse. The single admission fee of a ticket will be the only cost of the day, everything is included. Enjoy the huge shade trees with incredible tire swings or sit on a John Deere tractor. Families are encouraged to participate in farm operations or the work task of the day. You will discover an old airplane, sandboxes, bicycles, hammocks, free-roaming chickens, among many other things to explore. During colder weather, toast marshmallows over the bonfire. – Longmont, CO
