When I walked into a home with one of my clients, and she gasped at a mountain scene barn door on the laundry room, my wheels immediately started turning. I knew I wanted to get them something similar as a closing gift, and thanks to the wonderful world of social media, I knew EXACTLY who to call…..
Brian Ross grew up in Montana and attended college in Bozeman for Finance / Economics. He moved to Colorado right after college and has been in the Denver area ever since, almost 20 years now! He started woodworking as a way to “flex” his creative side, but more importantly, to impress a girl who now happens to be his wife of almost 8 years. Apparently, the plan worked! Once they were married, Brian started his formal woodworking training at a local college and completed their Craftsman program. After designing and building many pieces of furniture and wall at for their home, the idea of B R Wood Designs came to fruition so that he could start to bring custom furniture or art into someone else’s home for others to enjoy.
When I asked him what inspired him to take the leap into “businesshood”, he said, “Ultimately, the expressed interest into what I was doing and the projects I was creating from my friends and family gave me the encouragement to sell my work. Plus, I now have all the free time in the world with a 9 month old baby, so why not start a business!”

Through Brian’s wife, Kelly, and social media, I had seen pictures of the woodworking pieces Brian had been creating, and had filed that information away in my brain for a time when I would need it. I think the one that caught my eye the most was a mountain scene made of wood as a piece of wall art. There was even one that he had outfitted with LED lights that looked absolutely AMAZING! When I contacted Brian about the mountain barn door project, I think I said something along the lines of, “I’d like a barn door in the same style as your mountain artwork.” That’s pretty much all I gave him, aside from the measurements of the door opening, and he ran with it from there!
The barn door project turned out BEAUTIFULLY, and the clients absolutely LOVED it! We just delivered it and it is being installed, so I’ll update this post with a picture of the finished installed door once we have one. I’ve included a few more pics from Brian’s portfolio below, but be sure to visit his website , Facebook Page, and Instagram to see all of the wonderful projects he has completed.
